BIOGRAPHY

Our story

LOC was formed in the summer of 2020 to give fellow musicians and international opera singers who had lost their work to the Covid pandemic the opportunity to keep performing and to give music lovers a first class treat after a summer devoid of live concerts.
Following the critically acclaimed and sold-out inaugural production of Tristan und Isolde in 2020,

The London Opera Company will perform Tristan und Isolde in concert  on 29th October 2022 at St John’s Smith Square.
The production features a high-calibre cast of seasoned professionals including Neal Cooper, who will sing Tristan. Neal, nephew of legendary champion boxer Henry Cooper, sings this role regularly at The Metropolitan Opera and around the world.

Neal and the soon to be announced remainder of the cast will be joined by an orchestra with a core of professionals playing alongside the best post-graduates from London’s top music colleges.

Peter Selwyn conducts the orchestra, which is led by Katherine Shave. This follows their recent collaboration in Opera Holland Park’s Der Fleiglinde Hollander, which earned five star reviews.

Götterdammerung 2025

5 STAR Review

OMH Sam Smith

"An accomplished performance from The London Opera Company at Smith Square Hall. The Immolation Scene that closed the evening was an equally stirring and undoubted highlight of the evening ,the result was an extremely engaging performance of the final opera in Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. "

Siegfried 2024

"This Siegfried was a remarkable achievement, which bodes well for the company's
Götterdämmerung next year…So gripping was the final scene. If only every performance outside an opera house could be like this." (The Wagner Journal)

Die Walküre 2023

“The London Opera Company is set to perform Siegfried next year, and, based on the strength of this Die Walküre, it is an extremely enticing prospect…In a very short period of time The London Opera Company have shown themselves to be leaders in Wagner" (OMH review)

Tristan und Isolde 2020

“I have rarely known any performance, even of this opera, to carry such an overwhelming emotional payload… If this is a taste of their quality, I want to see more of their work, soon.”  (Wagner News)

“An accomplished and moving company debut” (Opera Magazine)
